The Spier rebrand marks a thoughtful evolution of one of South Africa’s oldest working wine farms. Rooted in over three centuries of heritage, the new identity balances legacy with modern sophistication—refining the brand without losing its sense of place.

Drawing from the iconic gable crest that once adorned Spier’s wine labels, the refreshed logo maintains a strong connection to the farm’s architectural and cultural lineage. The updated logotype introduces a more structured, contemporary expression, informed by the tactile qualities of traditional lead-type printing. Subtle irregularities lend an organic, timeless character, while a considered symmetry brings clarity and visual harmony.

Beyond a singular mark, the project developed a comprehensive logo system designed for flexibility across the estate’s diverse touchpoints—from wine labels and hospitality to hotel, spa and digital applications. Improved legibility and refined proportions ensure impact at every scale, enhancing recognition while future-proofing the brand.

The result is an identity that feels grounded yet progressive—confidently positioned for global relevance while remaining deeply connected to the land, its history and its long-standing commitment to stewardship.
